The Four QuartersPart 202.01 Many ancient kabbalistic texts, and The Zohar in particular, include the names of archangels, angels and other spiritual beings. Though none of the source texts give definitive tabulated lists of correspondences it is possible to assign these beings to the quarters. 02.02 This gives a further set of attributes:
[Mirach has not been able to find the angels associated with West. If anybody knows who they are will they please contact Mirach] 02.03 In the Biblical book of Numbers, Chapter 2 are to be found details of the order in which the twelve tribes of Israel arranged themselves while wandering in the Sinai Desert. This clearly allocates three of the tribes to each of the four directions. It also (at Numbers 2.17) places the "tent of meeting" - the focus of their religious observance - in the centre. 02.04 The twelve tribes can be seen as being the physical representation of spiritual forces, and thus they too can be added to the list of correspondences:
02.05 And so the correspondences build up. |
