Hod

[This needs to be read in conjunction with the previous Sephirah, Netzach. They are so intimately connected that it is difficult to talk about them as separate entities]

The God-name associated with Hod is Elohim Tzabaoth

Hod means "glory".

Hod, like Geburah and Binah above it, is constrictive. It takes the exuberance of Netzach and constructively channels it.

Hod also modulates the intermittent, pulsing nature of Netzach and operates in a steady state of devotion, subordination and consistency.

But Hod is not a state of subjugation. The passive, receptive nature of Hod is necessary to control the extravagance of Netzach. If Hod tried to resist the energy flowing from Netzach it would block the flow from Kether to Malkuth, resulting in the non-existence of our physical universe.

Therefore, Hod passively accepts Netzach's energy and, being feminine, nurtures it to produce Yesod.
