Teth is a sign of resistance and it is associated with the concept "good". Goodness in mankind is resistance against each individual's yetzer ha-ra (evil inclination).

The word for "good" is (combining teth with beth). Here we see resistance acting on one of the primary dualities, yetzer ha-ra versus yetzer ha-tov. While the teth is dominant (i.e. at the start of the word) then goodness results. When the beth is dominant () we find the root of many words that infer rashness or thoughtlessness of speech (i.e. the yetzer ha-ra is in control).
