Ayin

The numerical value of Ayin is 70.

Ayin means "eye"

According to the Sepher Yetzirah, its correspondences are:

Modality

Space/
Direction

Time

Body

Anger

Capricorn
Upper North

Tevet

Liver

Just as zayin (7) represents a state of actively balancing the six directions, so ayin also denotes a state of active balance. The eye is usually seen as a passive organ, collecting the light that falls on it and passing it to that part of the brain that processes visual images. However, the eye should be seen as an active organ. We can choose what images we see and, probably more importantly, we can decide what impact those images have on ourselves. we have to train ourselves to see "with G-d's eye". Everything around us is manifest by G-d, even the most horrible. It is for us to see the influence of G-d in everything.

So, whereas zayin is active balance at the archetypal level, ayin represents the same activity on the created level.
