The Binah Temple

The Binah Temple is the place of all power.  It is the place where the powers of the stars can be channelled into any form the Magician wishes. It is the place where the Zodiac of Chokmah and the infinite expansion of the straight line are constrained by the triangle of form.

The ability to transform the pure force of Chokmah into archetypal form is the highest form of magic imaginable.

The results of working at such a high level on the Tree are far reaching. This is not personal magic, this is the magic of nations, continents and worlds. This magic affects races and species.

Binah is the home of Saturn and karma. The karmic repercussions of anything done here by the magician are immense. A magician operating in the Binah Temple takes on the karma of all s/he effects – be that a continent, a specie, or whatever.

Thus the Magician must be very certain of his/her actions and must be willing to accept karmic responsibility of his/her actions.

The Binah Temple is a triangular platform built out from a rock face, reaching out into the Abyss. It is reached through a tunnel of pure darkness through the rock. At each of the angles of this platform a triangular black onyx column stretches upwards towards the night sky. The platform is of black obsidian. Let into this floor is a silver-grey circle, its circumference just touching the edges of the triangle. In the centre of the circle stands a waist high triangular column of black onyx. On this altar sits an obsidian orb. Within the circle three low candles burn with an orange flame.

Above the night sky sparkles with the stars of Chokmah. Each star represents a spirit being of pure force waiting to be called into archetypal form.

The Magician stands at the side of the circle nearest to the entrance. He s/he has a candle to the right and the left. Ahead s/he can see the altar and the furthest onyx column. Beyond, the swirling mists of the Abyss hide the distant edge of the chasm. Though s/he cannot see the other side, the Magician knows that there lies the lower 7 Sephiroth and the physical plane.

The Magician is robed in dark blue hand holds a black wand. Whatever s/he wills in this place becomes reality on the plane of manifestation. But this is the level of archetypal form and it is a very wise Magician that can really understand what the physical manifestation will be of an archetypal form created in Binah.

The orb will show visions of the structure and form that underlies physical manifestation. This is at a level far beyond the sub-atomic levels presently studied by physicists. The current particles detected by mankind are only the gross physical manifestations of much more subtle archetypal structures.

The Binah Temple is the home of all 3s, thus the tripartite bases of the 72 Names of God have a natural affinity to this place. Thus the Magician can tap into 72 of the most powerful forces in the Universe – using them for good or ill.

The magic of the Binah Temple is the magic of Dendara. The priests in that temple of Egypt knew the secrets of Binah working and it corrupted them. The famed astrological ceiling represented the starry manifestation of Chokmah. It was this power which the Priesthood drew down and used (or rather, tried to use) for their own purposes.

The magic of the Binah Temple works slowly (Saturn) and at the subconscious level of an individual affected by it.

The karmic implications of Binah working are far reaching. Binah is the realm of teshuvah (“returning”). Here the karmic debts of individuals and peoples can be redeemed. It is the realm where the slate is wiped clean. However, for the Magician, it is the place where s/he can take on the karma of all those affected by her/his actions.
